FAQ

What are the requirements to start pilot training?

You must be at least 17 or 18 years old (depending on the programme) and have a high school diploma, with a strong focus on maths, physics and English. You must also obtain a medical certificate (Class 1 for commercial pilots).

On average, a pilot training programme takes 1 to 2 years, depending on the intensity of the programme and whether you take it full-time or part-time.

  • PPL (Private Pilot Licence): For recreational flying, no commercial activities.
  • CPL (Commercial Pilot Licence): For commercial flights such as airlines or cargo transport.
  • ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot Licence): The highest licence required to fly as a captain on large commercial aircraft.

Yes, English is the international language of aviation. This is tested during training through a Language Proficiency Exam (LPE). You must achieve ICAO level 4 or higher to fly professionally.

You start with a single-engine aircraft such as the Aquila A211 or the Tecnam P2010.

Theory covers topics such as aerodynamics, meteorology, navigation, and aviation regulations. It is doable if you put your best effort into it.

You can work as a commercial pilot in airlines, cargo carriers, private charters or become an instructor. Demand for pilots is high worldwide, especially in emerging markets. Job guarantees are not often given.

This is possible in part-time courses, but full-time programmes usually require your full attention.
