Have you been a Flight Instructor for some time and looking for the next step in your development? And besides teaching, also interested in increasing quality in aviation? Then the Flight Examiner (FE) course is a very nice next step.
As the only ATO in the Netherlands, we provide the EASA Flight Examiner training course at Breda Aviation. We have been providing this training course since 2022 and have already successfully trained several Flight Examiners.
There are several Flight Examiner training paths and each Flight Examiner certification has specific experience requirements. Training is skill-based and depends on your experience in both flying and instruction. See the Flight Examiner training page for more information.
After successful completion of FE training, we don't stop there. With our highly developed network and contacts at EASA, ILT and other flight schools, we help you further with advice and support. After all, as a Flight Examiner, the importance of being widely employable and independent is paramount. Not only for yourself but especially for safeguarding the quality standard for aviation.
The first step is to become a Flight Examiner for LAPL/PPL and CPL. To become one, there are a number of entry requirements. Once you are FE, you can go on for IRE (Instrument Rating Examiner) and FIE (Flight Instructor Examiner).
A comprehensive course focusing on both the IR-SEP and IR-MEP. You must have your own class rating and have accumulated sufficient experience hours in this. As an IRE, you may take exams for the Instrument Rating. This also includes re-certification and renewal. This is often the next step after FE on LAPL/PPL & CPL.
As an instructor, you have gained extensive experience and have also seen and experienced a lot as an examiner. Then this is your step to examine the next group of Flight Instructors (FI). As with the IRE, the experience requirements are considerable. You also have extensive experience in training Flight Instructors.
