Become a sport pilot; get your LAPL or PPL at Breda Aviation

Some play tennis in their spare time, others prefer to read a book. Are you looking for something with more excitement, something that puts your skills to the test and where you literally and figuratively broaden your horizons? Then the sports pilot course is just the thing for you!

Enjoy the Sky learn to fly! We offer two different courses for obtaining your sport pilot licence. The most common licence, which also gives you the most options for further training, is the Private Pilot Licence (PPL). You can also opt for the Light Aircraft Pilot Licence (LAPL). We advise you to opt for the PPL course. The main reasons are the possibilities for further 'ratings' and it gives you a wider flying horizon than an LAPL.

BredaPedia is our digital tool for you: Throughout the training, you will use our online student tracking system which contains all training materials. You will also find there which exercises you can prepare, what your progress is, you can practice questions online and thus prepare yourself to the maximum for your exams. The ideal combination of the practical and theoretical part come together. Even after your training, BredaPedia offers you enormous convenience in, for example, flight preparation and reserving an aircraft for a flight.

A practical lesson; We adjust the pace and make the most of it

The best part of becoming a sports pilot is the flying. With us, a flying lesson always starts with a briefing of the lesson. Together, we go through what we are going to do and whether there are any additional questions. Together, we will make sure you get the most out of your lesson. After the briefing, we inspect the aircraft and the lesson begins in the cockpit. Mind you, preparation by you as a pilot, is more than half the work. Because in the cockpit, everything comes together and sometimes things happen very quickly.

We adjust the pace: Not everyone goes through all the lessons at the same speed or has fully mastered the practical lesson right away. This is normal and not an issue at all. We adjust the pace to your development and tailor it to what you need. The important thing is that you really learn to fly and feel comfortable with the progression and your own skills.

After take-off, a lesson of about 1 hour will follow. This depends on the specific programme and the possibilities offered by the weather, among other things. You will learn all the ins and outs from your instructor and after an instructive hour you will land back at the airport. There, you will also have a de-briefing and go through what went well, what tips there are for improvement and what can be prepared for next time.

This way, each lesson has a head and a tail. Want to know more about flying and practical lessons? Then check out our practical lessons page.

Theory; Together we make sure you are ready for the exam

Together, we will make sure you will actually succeed. The theory part consists of lessons, self-study and exams. You can set the pace yourself. However, we advise you to let your theory (partly) run ahead of practice. We go through our theory using the learning objectives set by EASA. These learning objectives are tested per subject by CBR. We use Bas Vrijhof's books as the basis for our theory, supplemented by a very modern digital platform, BredaPedia.

7 subjects and for each subject you take exams: For your PPL, you have a total of seven subjects to take exams in. For each subject, you can go through a theory module with us, which you complete with a Progress Test (PT). After clearance of the PT, you can schedule your own exam with the CBR.

Do you prefer to do the theory independently or even somewhere else? No problem at all. You may do the theory in self-study, but it must always be done through an ATO (Flight School). You will then have to complete a Progress Test (PT) per subject through us or the ATO where you do the theory and that ATO will then clear you for the specific exam.

Our fleet is modern and fun

Usually, the sport pilot's licence starts with us on the Aquila A211. This is a modern two-seater on which all PPL and LAPL practice can be flown. This low-decker is equipped with modern Avionics and a spacious open cockpit.

Apart from this, there is also the option to get your PPL on the Tecnam P2010. This is a very complete and modern high-decker. This aircraft is also used for the Instrument Rating (IR) part of the ATPL training.
