Instrument Rating Examiner (IRE)

Instrument Rating Examiner (IRE)

After obtaining your IRE (Instructor Rating Examiner), you may conduct Instrument Rating examinations in the Netherlands. If you want to act as an instructor, with a licence issued in the Netherlands, as an examiner, it is mandatory to take a Dutch examiner training course. We will be happy to help you take this next step.

We are the only company in the Netherlands to offer the IRE (Instrument Rating Examiner) course

After a great period as a Flight Instructor (FI) and Flight Examiner (FE), you can now also progress to examining for the Instrument Rating. Furthermore, besides the experience hours, you must also have the relevant class rating to be allowed to examine for the IR on this class.

Our Instrument Rating Examiner (IRE) training course consists of 4 sessions and takes place at Breda Aviation's location at Breda Airport in Bosschenhoofd and partly at a location to be determined. We use our Tecnam P2010 simulator equipped with the Garmin G1000.

Flight examiner for IR, both in the simulator and the real aircraft

The IRE training course consists of 4 sessions and takes place partly at Breda Aviation's location and partly at a location in consultation with you, the candidate. The training course consists of both simulator training and flying with a candidate to be examined in an aircraft. We guide you towards the AoC (Assessment of Competence) and make sure you start with confidence. Upon completion of this training and a successful outcome of your AoC, you will be allowed to take the Instrument Rating exam.

Content of the IRE Training Course: The course content consists of 4 training sessions, arranged as follows:

At Breda Aviation's location at Breda Airport:

  • Session 1: Introduction to an IR skill test, how to assess and fly a scenario on the simulator.
  • Session 2: A full IR skill test demonstrated on the simulator.

Location in the Netherlands by mutual agreement:

  • Session 3: A full IR skill test with a real candidate on a plane.
  • Session 4: Another IR skill test or pro check with a real candidate on an aircraft.

Should scheduling the Assessment of Competence (AoC) take a lot of time due to, for example, matching the right candidate, senior Examiner and/or device, it is possible to schedule a repeat session.

Our fleet is modern and fun

Basically, your ATPL training starts with obtaining your PPL (Private Pilot Licence). We use the Aquila A211 for this purpose. This is a modern two-seater in which all PPL practice can be flown. This low-decker is equipped with modern avionics and a spacious open cockpit.

Apart from this, there is also the option to get your PPL on the Tecnam P2010. This is a very complete and modern high-decker. This aircraft is also used for the Instrument Rating (IR) part of the ATPL training.
