In Europe, we have EASA and our licences are also EASA licences. But we also regularly see pilots coming by with an FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) licence. We also have FAA instructors on our team so you can also come to us for a biannual.
As stated in FAA FAR PART 61.56, a Bi-annual Flight Review (BFR) is required for each FAA pilot certificate holder. This must be done at least every 24 months. It does not matter here whether it was converted to an FAA certificate or obtained as an FAA certificate. In all cases, a biannual is required.
The minimum is one hour of ground school and one hour of flight training. Depending on experience and aptitude, it may take more time.
A flight review consists of turning the engine on and off, take-off and landing, a short field take-off, steep 45-degree turns, a simulated engine failure and a variety of other manoeuvres that may be applicable to show that you are proficient in piloting an aircraft.
If you're all set, you can of course register straight away. Still have questions? Take a look at our FAQ page or contact us, we will be happy to help.
