The CPL (Commercial Pilot Licence) is a licence that allows you to fly as a professional pilot, for example as a co-pilot on commercial flights or for commissioned flights (such as aerial photography or sightseeing flights). It allows you to fly for a fee.
The ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot Licence) is the highest level pilot licence within civil aviation. An ATPL allows you to fly as captain on commercial passenger and cargo flights. At Breda Aviation, you work in a modular training programme from PPL to CPL, and then towards your ATPL, fully preparing you for a career as a commercial pilot.
At Breda Aviation, ATPL training takes between 18 and 24 months on average. The exact duration depends on your commitment, availability and whether you do the course full-time or part-time. The training is modular and flexible, allowing you to go through the phases at your own pace. This allows you to tailor your training to your personal and professional situation.
The exact cost of ATPL training at Breda Aviation depends on your personal trajectory, the modules you choose and any additional requirements. Because we work transparently, you can easily request a brochure or schedule an introductory meeting to discuss the possibilities and associated costs. So you know where you stand in advance and you can pay for each phase of your training in instalments.
To start the ATPL course at Breda Aviation, you need the following:
In addition, there will always be an intake interview during which we will check together whether you have the right level and whether you have a chance of a successful career as an airline pilot.
The "best flight school" varies from person to person, but at Breda Aviation you choose a personal, professional and flexible training with more than 15 years of experience in training pilots. We are a certified Approved Training Organisation (ATO) and work with modern aircraft, intensive guidance and a unique combination of theory, practice and soft-skill training. In addition, our location at Breda International Airport is ideally accessible for students from all over the Netherlands and Belgium.
Yes, it is certainly possible to combine work with ATPL training at Breda Aviation. Thanks to the modular structure and flexible planning, you determine the intensity of your training. You communicate your availability and we plan your practical lessons accordingly. This makes it possible to hold down a job alongside your training. Of course, this requires good planning and dedication, but it is absolutely feasible.
Absolutely. Breda Aviation's ATPL training course is specially designed to be part-time as well. Whether you work part-time, have a family or other commitments - you determine the frequency and pace of your training in consultation with your instructor. This way, the course remains feasible and accessible for everyone, without compromising on quality or depth.
A Frozen ATPL means you have completed all theory exams and required flight modules, but do not yet have sufficient flight experience (such as the number of flight hours) to work as a captain. A Frozen ATPL does allow you to work as a co-pilot with an airline. Once you reach the required number of flying hours, your licence will be "unfrozen" to a full ATPL. This is a normal and usual route towards the cockpit of a commercial airline.
Yes. The ATPL you obtain from Breda Aviation is an EASA licence, which means your licence is valid in all member states of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). This allows you to use your diploma to work for airlines all over Europe, without additional conversion procedures. This makes it a valuable and widely applicable pilot's licence.
The long-term demand for pilots continues to grow, especially with the growing number of flights and the recovery of the aviation sector. At Breda Aviation, you will not only receive technical training, but we also pay a lot of attention to your personal development, soft skills and job application preparation. This includes interview training, communication skills and guidance during job applications. This prepares you well for airline selection procedures and increases your chances of getting that coveted job in the cockpit.
If you're all set, you can of course register straight away. Still have questions? Take a look at our FAQ page or contact us, we will be happy to help.
Basically, your ATPL training starts with obtaining your PPL (Private Pilot Licence). We use the Aquila A211 for this purpose. This is a modern two-seater in which all PPL practice can be flown. This low-decker is equipped with modern avionics and a spacious open cockpit.
Apart from this, there is also the option to get your PPL on the Tecnam P2010. This is a very complete and modern high-decker. This aircraft is also used for the Instrument Rating (IR) part of the ATPL training.
